Set of Four Mario Bellini Cab Chairs for Cassina
Set of vintage ‘Cab’ chairs designed by Mario Bellini for Cassina, Italy. These beautiful examples feature an uncommon natural leather that’s almost ‘nude’ in tone. The upholstery is made up of 22 pieces of cowhide, die-cut, and hand-processed one-by-one and then sewn into a single piece which is then fitted over a steel skeleton and closed with a zipper. According to Cassina, the ‘Cab’ was the world’s first free-standing cowhide chair, and inspired by the relationship between the human skeleton and its skin. These chairs have a wondeful patina that is only present after decades of usage.
Each chair shows signs of age and wear. Measures 32”H x 23”W x 19”D.
